A bedroom comforter is one of the most important items that you will have in your bedroom. Not only does it give you comfort and warmth on a cold night, but it also adds beauty to your bedroom. For this reason, it is important that you invest in one that is of the best quality.
Material
Bedroom comforters are made from a variety of materials ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive ones. Some common materials are cotton, silk, polyester, flannel and down. Cotton is the least expensive material for bedroom comforters. Despite their economical value, they still provide warmth and comfort. Pure white goose down is the most expensive material used for bedroom comforters. They give a soft, smooth and light feeling, assuring you of a well-rested sleep.
Fill Power
The fill power is the same as the "fluffiness" of fill. Fluffy down means it has a high fill power. The higher the fill power the longer it will last.

Weight
High quality comforters provide warmth with the least amount of weight possible. The higher the fill power is, the lighter the comforter will be while still providing optimum warming capacity.
Thread Count
The thread count is the number of thread for every square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the softer the fabric. A high thread count also means that there will be less leakage, preventing your comforter from losing fill. With a high thread count, you won't have feathers sticking out of your comforters.
Cleanliness
The cleanliness of the down is the primary factor in determining the hypoallergenic factor of a down comforter. Some down are washed as much as fifteen times to get rid of dirt, dust and other organic matter. High quality down has very low levels of organic matter left in them. Some down that are labeled 100% pure are sometimes mixed with feather.
Sewing Quality
Comforters that are sewn well are more durable and not prone to tearing or breakage. Comforters are either sewn through or baffled. Those that use lightweight materials are generally sewn through. Baffling is done by putting in an internal wall fabric, allowing the fill to loft. This process adds strength to the comforter, and prevents the fill from shifting around and forming lumps.
Design
Your comforter should not just be soft, warm and durable but also great to look at as this is the "centerpiece" of your whole bedroom. Choose one that complements you bedroom decoration, adding flair to the entire room.
